- Is there a group for people with disabilities?
- There is no special group, but they are more than welcome to participate. For people who would have difficulty competing on the race by themselves due to visual impairment we can provide up to two guides at no extra cost.
* Please be aware that it is not possible to participate in the race in a wheelchair. - I don’t know my previous-best or estimated time.
- Your starting position will be determined by the estimated time you provide to us, with faster runners towards the front. Particularly at the front of the race there will be fiercer competition and more danger of being knocked over, so please apply after understanding your running speed.
* People with no estimated time will be placed furthest back. - Can I apply by telephone or fax?
- We are unable to accept applications by telephone or fax.

- Participants in the half marathon must be at least 18 years old on the day of the race.
Participants in the 3km race must be at least junior high school age (11 years old or above). - If I become unable to participate can I have my participation fee refunded?
- Unfortunately refunds are not possible.
- How do things proceed from registration to the day of the marathon?
- Mid-march – participants’ information and exchange voucher for number card sent out
April 22nd (Saturday) – Exchange coupons for number cards
* Coupons for 3km can be exchanged on the day of the race
April 23rd (Sunday) – Half marathon - What happens if the marathon becomes full between submitting my application and paying the registration fee?
- The application process works on a first-come-first-served basis, so as long as you pay the required fee by the designated day after applying you will be able to participate.
- How do I apply?
- Pressing the ‘Go Sports Web’ button on the banner at the top of the page will open the entry site for the event. You can apply from there (requires a free membership registration on the site).
- How can I obtain an advertising pamphlet for the event?
- The advertisement pamphlets are available at Gifu Memorial Centre, the Gifu City Office (City Sports Division, South Building), the Gifu Prefectural Office (Regional Sports Division) and at the Gifu Chunichi building.
If you wish to request advertising pamphlets to distribute, please send:

- 1) The half marathon can have up to 9,000 participants (over 18 years of age).
2) The 3km race can have up to 1,000 participants (middle-school students and above). - After registration is it possible to change application details like my associated organization?
- Unfortunately, it is not possible to change your application data after registration.
It is also not possible to have your application fee refunded if you become unable to participate due to personal circumstances. Please be aware of this when applying. - What does my related institution mean?
- It’s the name of the school, company or club that you are applying as a part of (if any).
Please note that if it is longer than 7 characters, it will be changed or shortened to fit by the organizers. - When will the participants’ information reach me?
- After applications have finished, we will send out the information to registered candidates in the middle of March.
- When can I exchange my participation voucher for a number card?
- Number cards will be available at Gifu Memorial Centre, from 10:00-20:00 on April 22nd (Saturday). They will not be available on the day of the half marathon.
(For participants in the 3km, number cards will be available from 7:00-8:00 on the 23rd of April (Sunday). - After applying, my address has changed. What should I do?
- Please change your address on the ‘My Page’ section of the ‘GO SPORTS WEB’ site.
- Is it possible to book accommodation together with my registration?
- Please look at the ‘Entry plan including accommodation’ page.
About the Race
- How is the race time measured? Is it the gross time or the net time?
- The net time is measured from the point at which the starting pistol is fired using a runners’ chip.
- When can I get a certificate for finishing the race?
- They will be handed out on the day of the race after you finish. Please be aware that there it is not possible to post them out afterwards, so you should make sure to collect it on the day of the race.
- I would like to start towards the front.
- Your initial starting position is determined by the estimated completion time you provide to us when applying, with faster runners located towards the front.
As there is likely to be fiercer competition and therefore greater risk of falls and collisions toward the front of the race, please ensure that you start from your assigned position. - Is it possible to race as a substitute or proxy for somebody else?
- Running as a substitute or proxy is completely forbidden. Anyone found to be running on behalf of somebody else or misrepresenting their identity will forfeit their completion of the race and barred from participation.
Additionally, anybody who is injured or runs into difficulties on the race while misrepresenting their identity will not be considered the responsibilities of the event organizers and not covered by our insurance policy. - How will my time be recorded?
- The time recorded will be done at the race reception using the J-CHIP given to all runners.
- Is there a maximum allowed time for the race?
- The maximum allowed time for the half marathon is three hours. (Latest finish time is 12:05).
There are four gates on the course.

The longest allowed time for the 3km race is 30 minutes (ending at 9:55). - What happens if I can’t finish the marathon within the allowed time?
- If you exceed the allowed time, please follow the directions of the guide, take off your number card and exit the running course onto the walking path. Please be aware that unfortunately you cannot receive a certificate in this case.
- What should I do if I feel unwell while running?
- If during the race you are injured or you begin to feel unwell, take care of yourself and move to a safe space such as the walking track. Then please inform the event staff of your condition.
Access & Accommodation
- Is car-parking available?
- There is not much car-parking available at the event venue, so please use public transport.
People who have no option but to use a car must register for parking when applying for the marathon. Please note that it will not be possible to pack on the day without pre-registering.
Also, there is a limited amount of parking available, so some requests for parking may unfortunately not be able to be met. - Can people other than runners make use of the car-park?
- We are very sorry but unfortunately use of the car-park is available exclusively for people running in the race. We would like to ask for your understanding and cooperation in using public transport to come to the event.
- Can I get to the venue other than through the shuttle buses?
- There are buses from JR Gifu station. For information about buses on the day of the event, please contact Gifu Bus(岐阜バス)TEL: 058-266-8822.
Also please note that it is about 4km to Gifu Memorial Centre from JR Gifu Station – perfect for a pre-race warm-up! - I want to know more about access to the venue.

- How long would it take in a taxi from JR Gifu station and how much would it cost?
- As a rough estimate, the ride should take about 20 minutes and cost about 2,000yen if there is no particular congestion on the route.
- During the time the race is running, I really need to use a car in the restricted area.
- We are very sorry, but it will not be possible to drive on or cross the roads used in the race during the restricted time. Please make use of the diversions.
- Do hotels in Gifu get crowded?
- We expect the hotels located around JR Gifu station to be particularly crowded because of the proximity of the free shuttle buses to the event. We recommend you make early reservations.
Registration before the Event
- What time can I get my access card on the day before the event?
- Number cards will be handed out on Saturday 22nd April from 10:00-20:00 at Gifu Memorial Centre. There is no option for half marathon runners to receive them on the day of the event. People running in the 3km race can get them on the day of the race from 7:00-8:00am.
We are preparing a lot of fun events for the day before the race as well, so please feel free to come along with your family and friends. - Why are they handed out on the day before the race?
- About 10,000 runners will take place on the day of the event. As such, we need to hand them out the day before to ensure a smooth start at 9:05.
- Can somebody else go to get my number card for me?
- Yes, this is possible. Your representative should bring along your exchange voucher for the number card and a signed and stamped letter from the participant.
- What should I do if I cannot go to receive my number card on the day before the race?
- We are very sorry but it will not be possible for you to participate in the race if you cannot come to receive your number card – it is a condition of participation.
Day of the Event
- What should I do if I become ill on the day of the event and cannot participate?
- There is no need to contact us, but please be aware that we will not be able to refund your money or give you a participation certificate.
- What should I do if I am late and miss the starting time?
- We are very sorry, but it will be treated as if you did not compete and you will not be able to receive either a refund or a participation certificate.
- Are there places available to get changed and/or leave luggage?
- There will be both changing rooms and places to leave luggage inside the venue (Gifu Memorial Centre). For exact details, please consult the ‘Participants’ Information’ which will be sent to you after registration.
The event organizers can accept no responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property left at the venue. We request that you take care of any valuables yourself. - How should I prepare and what sort of clothes should I wear?
- The vast majority of participants run in t-shirts and short pants, but in the event of very strong sunlight we strongly advise you wear a hat and/or sunglasses.
- What will the temperature be on the day of the race?
- The average temperature in Gifu City in April is approximately 14 degrees Celsius, but it may well be significantly higher than this. Please make sure to take care of yourself and drink plenty of water.
Supporting the Event
- Can I support the event with a musical instrument or Taiko drums?
- Please contact the Runner Call Centre at TEL: 0570-666328. In some cases we may designate a place for you to perform.
- Is there car-parking available for the friends and relatives of participants?
- We are very sorry, but the available car-parking is strictly reserved for use by participants. If a car must be used, we would request that you car-pool with a person participating in the race.
- Is there a place I can leave my kids while I compete?
- Unfortunately, we do not offer nursery facilities. If bringing children, please also bring an adult guardian to take care of them while you compete.
- Where should I support the runners from?
- Please support them either from Gifu Memorial Centre or from the walking track around the marathon course.
- What are the support areas easily accessible by public transport?
- If coming from JR Gifu or Meitetsu Gifu stations, Kinkabashi-dori is within walking distance.
- Are toilet facilities available for supporters?
- Please use the public toilets that are available in Gifu Memorial Centre and along the course route.
- What should I do if I start to feel unwell while supporting a participant?
- Please inform a first-aid station or any of the course staff.
